父親が娘に、アボカドを種から育てる方法を教えています。

F: Stick three toothpick into the seed. Then position the toothpicks on the rim of a glass.
D: Like so?
F: Yes. Make sure the bottom of the seed is submerged in water.
D: Okay.
F: Eventually a little root will emerge. Then a sprout will appear at the top.
D: Great! I've got to keep a photo diary.
F: Good idea!

Ｆ：種に爪楊枝を３本突き刺す。そしたら爪楊枝をグラスの縁のところに置く。
Ｄ：こんな風に？
Ｆ：そう。種の下の部分が水に浸かっていることを確かめるんだ。
Ｄ：オッケー。
Ｆ：やがて小さな根っこが現れる。それから上部に芽が出てくる。
Ｄ：いいわねぇ！私、写真日記をつけなくちゃ。
Ｆ：いいアイデアだ！
