数時間後、ジョンとメアリーがプーキーを捕まえる策を思案しているところに、見知らぬ人物(ST=stranger)から電話がかかってきます。

M: Pookie is going to be difficult to catch.
J: You. We need to rethink our strategy. (Telephone rings.) I'll get it. Hello?
ST: Hi, I found your dog. He saw my dog, Rover, and jumped in the back of my truck.
J: Do you have him?
ST: No, I took him to the animal shelter.
J: When was that?
ST: A couple of hours ago. I just saw your sign.
J: Thanks!

Ｍ：プーキーをつかめるのは難しくなるわね。
Ｊ：ああ。戦略を見直す必要があるね。（電話が鳴る）僕が出る。もしもし？
ＳＴ：どうも。お宅の犬を見つけましたよ。私の犬のローバーを見て、トラックの荷台に飛び乗ってきたんです。
Ｊ：そこにいるんですか？
ＳＴ：いいえ、動物保護施設へ連れて行きました。
Ｊ：それはいつ？
ＳＴ：２，３時間前。今お宅の張り紙を見たところです。
Ｊ：ありがとう！



ある人がプーキーを見つけました！彼はプーキーを動物保護施設へ連れて行きました。私たちの張り紙が功を奏したのです！私たちの戦略を見直さなくてよかったと思います。
Someone found Pookie. He took Pookie to the animal shelter. Our sign worked. I'm glad we didn't rethink our strategy.
