Ohtani's interpreter: This　affair symbolizes severity of gambling addiction.

とします。英語の過去形は，現在を否定するニュアンスがあるが，日本語の過去形は，現在を肯定するニュアンスとなるので，敢て現在形とした。

もう一つ社説

Official land prices rising: Develop stable recovery into virtuous economic cycle.

の元となった読売の社説の日本語は，”(公示地価上昇）安定的回復を好循環の促進に”となっている。これも厄介な日本文。結論の動詞の部分がない。私であれば，よりspecificに，

Assess Land Price by the government: Its sustained recovery contributes promotion of virtuous economic cycle.
.
とします。

なお，ワシントンポスト紙は，

The frustrating Israel-Gaza war: Don't expect Biden to solve the insoluble.

という記事を書いています。イスラエルーガザ戦争と言っている。せめて，イスラエルーハマス戦争と言えないものか！

さらに，

という記事を書いています。

さらに，

という記事を書いています。

また，ロイタが，
