ジーザスの言葉

舞台の流れをさらに細かくまとめつつ、聖書をあちこちめくる日々。
耕史ジーザスのあたたかくも力強い口調がまだくっきりと残っていて、
いままでよそごとのようにながめていたたとえ話も活き活きと響いてくる。
たとえば耕平くんの伸びやかなソロが心に染みる『All Good Gifts』の間奏部分で、
みやさんに寄りそうようにして語る言葉。

「そう、すべては天からの贈り物なんだ。
　海や山、風や雨、木漏れ陽や月の光。
　…命さえも」

「だからこの地上にそれを蓄えようとしてはいけない。
　すべてを司る天の国に蓄えるんだ。
　そこに心があるのだから」（マタイ6章19-21）

（Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,
where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal;
but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor　rust consumes　and where thieves do not
break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.）

放蕩息子のたとえ話が終わったあと、
台の上に立ちあがって問いかける言葉。

「君たちのうちでパンを欲しがっている人に石をあげる人は居るかな？」
「居ません！」
「魚をせがむのに蛇を与える人は？」
「No！」
「困ってる人には良いものをあげるんだ。
そうすれば天なる父はきっと、君たちにもっと良いものを下さるだろう。
いつでも、他の誰かにしてあげるんだ。
自分がしてもらったら嬉しいと思う行いを。
そう、これが律法と預言なんだ。

ここはリズムに乗って言葉を繰り出し、さながらラップのよう。
そのまま『Light of the World』になだれ込んでゆく前奏部分。
自分で舌にのせてみても、とても自然で気持ち良く、
耳にもすらっと入ってくる。
素晴らしい訳だなあ、とあらためて感嘆。
