We loved the shining sea
She gathered sea shells there fore me
Her hands, I love her hands
We’d sit there on the sand
She’d kiss the hollow of my hand
A kiss, I miss a kiss
I hear the grey gulls cry
I see them dip their wings
I feel the pounding surf
And other things
I can’t believe she’s gone
I think I’ll go where she might be
I’ll go, I need her so
You and I, an unmatched pair
Took the time to touch, to share
Worlds apart the night we met
We braved the odds and won the bet
Not perfect yet
But close enough for love
How old-fashioned, pure romance
Shared a kiss and shared the dance
Shared the body and bouquet
We'll taste the wine another day
When you and I
Are close enough for love
Not just lovers, more than friends
Who knows where one starts, one ends?
Tracing lights through sleepless nights
That I'll remember always
Always long goodbyes and tearful looks
Hold up well in poems and books
But you and I have life to hold
The greatest story never told
Not perfect yet
But close enough for love
In the evening,
When the kettle's on for tea,
An old familiar feeling
Settles over me,
And it's your face I see,
And I believe that you are there!
In a garden,
When I stop to touch a rose,
And feel the petals
Soft and sweet against my nose,
I smile and I suppose
That somehow maybe you are there!
When I'm dreaming,
And I find myself awake without a warning,
Then I rub my eyes
And fantasise,
And all at once I realise
It's morning,
And my fantasy is fading
Like a distant star at dawn,
My dearest dream is gone!
I often think there's just one thing to do -
Pretend the dream is true
And tell myself that you
Are there!
Emily, Emily, Emily
Has the murmuring sound of may
All silver bells, coral shells, carousels
And the laughter of children at play
Say Emily, Emily, Emily
And we fade to a marvelous view
Two lovers alone and out of sight
Seeing images in the firelight
As my eyes visualize a family
They see Emily, Emily
(and we fade to a marvelous view)
Two lovers alone and out of sight
Seeing images in the firelight
As my eyes visualize a family
They see Emily, Emily
Too

The moonlight warms the silver sand
A seabird sails across a cove
The water's crystal in your hand
The air is Cinnamon and Clove
The tempo's easy as you please
From ev'ry lemon yellow morning
Through velvet ev'ning
With breezes singing
The air is Cinnamon and Clove
The air is Cinnamon and Clove
Seductive Cinnamon and Clove
Bridge:
So come to my arms
I long for your kiss
The taste of the sea
Salty sweet upon your lips
There's love to be made
On nights such as this
And time is but sand
Sifting through our fingertips
The moon is like a tangerine
Adrift upon a sea of lights
A world where nothing comes between
These salty days and sultry nights
Where ev'ry slice of life and love
Has just the perfect combination
A cup of sweetness
A pinch of sadness
A touch of Cinnamon and Clove
The air is Cinnamon and Clove
Seductive Cinnamon and Clove
A Touch Of Cinnamon and Clove

SO MANY THINGS I SHOULD HAVE SAID I NEVER TOLD YOU
I KEPT THEM LOCKED INSIDE MY HEAD I NEVER TOLD YOU
WHEN YOU WERE HERE I NEVER LET YOU KNOW
I'D DIE BEFORE I LET YOU GO
I GUESS MY FIRST MISTAKE WAS THINKING YOU KNEW
I LOVED YOUR KISS I LOVED YOUR TOUCH
I LOVED TO HOLD YOU
I THOUGHT MY KISS COULD SAY SO MUCH
I NEVER TOLD YOU
AND NOW YOU'RE GONE AND EVERY SOUL I SEE
MUST HEAR HOW MUCH YOU MEAN TO ME
IT'S EASY NOW AT LAST I'M LEARNING HOW
TO SAY WHAT I NEVER TOLD YOU

Why didn't I see your eyes turning on me
Had I been gentle when you told me goodbye
I might have caused a smile instead of your weary sigh
But no, I let you go without letting you know
How I depended on the laughs that we shared
Oh, what it meant to me to know you were there
Quietly there, happily there
I must have hurt you so many quarrels ago
Oh no, you couldn't see the love hidden in me
I stay out late now, I don't want to go home
It's dawn when I reach the door
What do I have in store
Only the quiet prayer you're waiting quietly there
No, couldn't you see the love hidden in me
I stay out late now, I don't want to go home
It's dawn when I reach the door
What do I have in store
Only the quiet prayer you're waiting quietly there
