Can you speak English?

今日は娘の英語の試験。
となると前日は一夜漬け。
一生懸命にやっているのは和文英訳。
much less がなんだとか、make much of
など、ほぼ分からない。
解説をみると非常に微妙な言い回しが多い。
なので、丸暗記をするしかない。
あきらかに苦労しているようだが、こんな
難しい勉強をしても言語としての英語が身について
いっているようにも見えない。
学校英語では、苦労に伴った成果っていうのは
まだ先の様子。う〜ん。

There was a daughter’s exam .
So she studied over night.
She was transfering from Japanese to English sentences.
I saw her text , it said "much less something" and make much of enything
and so, I didn't know these.
I felt it was very subtle , saying in reference book about these
so she had to memory all of that.
It was so difficault for her but I don't predict she will speak English well.
Studing English in school, outcome was due to hard would be still ahead.
