Nathaniel Adams Coles (March 17, 1919 – February 15, 1965),

あまりにも有名すぎるナット・キング・コールなのですが、彼は1930年代に音楽活動を始め、1940年代には彼のトリオが大人気を博しました。
1950年代になると、ポピュラー音楽に路線を変え、数々のポップスヒットを生み出しました。

彼の人気と影響力というのは、1940年代に音楽活動を始めたオスカー・ピーターソンはナット・キング・コールのスタイルで歌を歌ったのですが、歌手として大成するのは諦めてピアニストとして活動しました。

またレイ・チャールスは1950年代に音楽活動を始めたのですが、当初はナット・キング・コールの物まねをしていました。

また、彼は、1942年ジョニー・マーサー、バディ・デシルヴァ、グレン・ウォリックスの3人によって設立されたキャピトル・レコード (Capitol Records) の看板スターであり、彼のレコードの売り上げがキャピトル・レコードの発展に大きく寄与しています。

彼のソングブックに取り上げられている曲の多くは1950年代のポップスヒットになった曲のように見えます。
また、それらの曲がスタンダード曲となって現在も世界中で愛されています。

彼の実弟フレディ・コールは現在も活躍中の歌手です。

あいにくと私の手元のアルバムには、このトラックの音源がなく、Youtube上にも上がっていませんでした。


ナット・キング・コールはこの曲を何度か録音しているようですが、コンピレイションアルバムがたくさんあって、オリジナルアルバムがどれか調べきれませんでした。
1951年のシングルの情報です。

ニッキ・パロットの非常に素直な歌い方とベース演奏が聴ける楽しいアルバムでしたね。
