ブロッサム・ディアリー、彼女の声を初めて耳にしたときは「なんという声！」「奇声に近い子供のような声」さらにアルバム写真で見るそのお姿と声との乖離の凄さに驚かされたものです。
彼女は1940年代に音楽活動を開始し、米国と欧州をまたにかけて、シンガー=ピアニスト（その多くはカクテル・ピアニスト）として活動を続けてきました。
その間、多くのジャズ・ミュージシャンとの交流があり、私が特に注目しているのはデイヴ・フリッシュバーグ (Dave Frishberg) との縁があり、彼が書いた洒脱な曲を多く手掛けているところに（も）あります。
彼女が残した録音を聴くと、なんとも味わいのある歌唱がたくさんあります。
彼女はサックス奏者のボビー・ジャスパーと結婚したのですが、彼は早逝してしまいました。

私は1960年代にジャズを聴いて育った。
