セロニアス・モンク ソングブックについて調べていますと、どこまでがソングブック・アルバムなのだろうかと考えてしまう機会になりました。
ジャズメンが発表するアルバムが、そのジャズメンのオリジナル曲で占められていて、しかも初発表のばあいはソングブック・アルバムとはいわないでしょうが、功成り名遂げたジャズメンが、それまでに書いた自身の曲ばかり集めたアルバムはソングブック・アルバムといってもいいのか？
セロニアス・モンクの場合は、上記に該当するアルバムがかなりあるようなので悩ましいところです（汗）

そのソーシャの比較的初期のアルバム、いまでは希少品価格がついていて、手に入り難いアルバムです。
わたしはこのアルバムを、初めて mp3ダウンロードで入手したのですが、手に入れてみてビックリしたのは、音源だけしかなくて、ライナーノーツやジャケット裏画像がなかったのです。
（この問題はいまだに解決されていないようで、われわれジャズファンにとっては必須の演奏家情報、録音日情報等が不明のままになります）
で、ソーシャに直接お願いして、ライナーノーツとジャケット裏画像を送ってもらいました。
（なんとソーシャってすばらしい人なんでしょう！ 一段と好きになってしまいました :-)）
カーメン・マクレイのセロニアス・モンク・ソングブックよりも少し後の録音（データでは1988年リリースとなっているものもありますが、ジャケット裏画像では1990年録音となっています）
既にアルバムをお持ちの方にとってはなんでもない情報かもしれませんが、わたしにとっては非常に貴重な情報、これをソーシャから直接いただきました。
いわば一種のお宝画像になります :-)
出し惜しみしないで公開します。
ソーシャの米国での評価の一つに、彼女の歌う英語は米国ネイティブの英語と変わりがない、というのがありました。
う〜ん、わたしではそこまでは聞き取れません。
