The sea, the sky, both you and I
the sea, the sky, the you and I
I know we're all blues
all shades, all hues, all blues
some blues are sad
but some are glad
dark, sad, or bright, glad
they're all blues
all shades, all hues, all blues
A color, a color, the blues is more than a color
they're the moan of pain and a taste of strife
and a sad refrain
which the night is playing
blues can be the living dues we are all are paying, yeahh oh lord
in a rainbow, a summer day that's fair
a prayer that's prayed a lament that's made, yeaah
some shade of blue is there, blue is heaven's hue, they're all blues.

Ronald Muldrow (g)
A small boy walked down a city street
And hope was in his eyes
As he searched the faces of the people he'd meet
For one he could recognize
Brother, where are you?
They said you came this way
Brother, where are you?
They said you came this way
Looking for a soul brother all around him
Looking for a soul brother all around him
The eyes of the people who passed him by
Were cold and as hard as stone
The poor boy whimpered and began to cry
Because he was all alone
Brother, where are you?
They said you came this way, yeah
Brother, where are you?
They said you came this way
Looking for a soul brother all around him
Looking for a soul brother all around him
Now there are many who swear it's true
That brothers all we are
Yet it seems there are very few
Who will answer a brother's call?
Brother, where are you?
They said you came this way, yeah
Brother, where are you?
They said you came this way
Now there are many who will swear it's true
That brothers all we are
Yet it seems there are so few
Who will answer a brother's call?
Brother, where are you?
They said you came this way, yeah
Brother, where are you?
They told me you came this way
Looking for a soul brother all around him
(They said you came this way)
Looking for a soul brother all around him
(Said you came this way)
Looking for a soul brother all around him
(I know you came this way)
Looking for a soul brother all around him
(Oh, you came this way, I know you came this way)
Looking for a soul brother all around him
Looking for a soul brother all around him
Looking for a soul brother all around him
Looking for a soul brother all around him
Looking for a soul brother all around him
G’way an’ quit dat noise, Miss Lucy--
Put dat music book away;
What’s de use to keep on tryin’?
Ef you practise twell you’re gray,
You cain’t sta’t no notes a-flyin’
When Malindy sings.
You ain’t got de nachel o’gans
Fu’ to make de soun’ come right,
You ain’t got de tu’ns an’ twistin’s
Fu’ to make it sweet an’ light.
Tell you one thing now, Miss Lucy,
An’ I ‘m tellin’ you fu’ true,
When hit comes to raal right singin’,
‘T ain’t no easy thing to do.
Easy ‘nough fu’ folks to hollah,
Lookin’ at de lines an’ dots,
When dey ain’t no one kin sence it,
An’ de chune comes in, in spots;
But fu’ real malojous music,
Dat jes’ strikes yo’ hea’t and clings,
Jes’ you stan’ an’ listen wif me
When Malindy sings.
Ain’t you nevah hyeahd Malindy?
Blessed soul, tek up de cross!
Look hyeah, ain’t you jokin’, honey?
Well, you don’t know whut you los’.
Y’ ought to hyeah dat gal a-wa’blin’,
Robins, la’ks, an’ all dem things,
Heish dey moufs an’ hides dey face.
When Malindy sings.
Fiddlin’ man jes’ stop his fiddlin’,
Lay his fiddle on de she’f;
Mockin’-bird quit tryin’ to whistle,
‘Cause he jes’ so shamed hisse’f.
Folks a-playin’ on de banjo
Draps dey fingahs on de strings--
Bless yo’ soul--fu’gits to move ‘em,
When Malindy sings.
She jes’ spreads huh mouf and hollahs,
“Come to Jesus," twell you hyeah
Sinnahs’ tremblin’ steps and voices,
Timid-lak a-drawin’ neah;
Den she tu’ns to “Rock of Ages,"
Simply to de cross she clings,
An’ you fin’ yo’ teahs a-drappin’
When Malindy sings.
Who dat says dat humble praises
Wif de Master nevah counts?
Heish yo’ mouf, I hyeah dat music,
Ez hit rises up an’ mounts--
Floatin’ by de hills an’ valleys,
Way above dis buryin’ sod,
Ez hit makes its way in glory
To de very gates of God!
Oh, hit’s sweetah dan de music
Of an edicated band;
An’ hit’s dearah dan de battle’s
Song o’ triumph in de lan’.
It seems holier dan evenin’
When de solemn chu’ch bell rings,
Ez I sit an’ ca’mly listen
While Malindy sings.
Towsah, stop dat ba’kin’, hyeah me!
Mandy, mek dat chile keep still;
Don’t you hyeah de echoes callin’
F’om de valley to de hill?
Let me listen, I can hyeah it,
Th’oo de bresh of angel’s wings,
Sof’ an’ sweet, “Swing Low,
Sweet Chariot,"
Ez Malindy sings.
I'm in love with a strong man
And he tells me he's wild about me
I'm in love with a guy
Who is everything grand
Any man can be
I'm in love with a strong man
What a hard workin' hero is he
Great big arms
Muscled hard, dark and shining
He folds around me
Hair crisp and curly
And cropped kinda close
Picture a lover like this
Lips warm and full
That I love the most
Smiling between every kiss
I'm in love with a strong man
Once you see him you'll have to agree
That any other
Would just be the wrong man
And it is easy to see
Why I love life when I'm loving
My strong man
And letting my strong man love me
And letting my strong man love me
Hair crisp and curly
And cropped kinda close
Picture a lover like this
Lips warm and full
That I love the most
Smiling between every kiss
I'm in love with a strong man
Once you see him you'll have to agree
That any other
Would just be the wrong man
And it is easy to see
Why I love life when I'm loving
My strong man
And letting my strong man love me
And letting my strong man love me

IT HELPS ME GET AWAY FROM STRIFE
I HOPE YOU LISTEN CAREFULLY -

"Hi, it's me, Linda Kosut"
please carve no cold headstone for me
but rather plant a sapling tree
and lay my ashes beneath its foot
so through my body it takes root
then as the seasons come and go
my monument and I will grow
wave bright green flags at summer's sky
and harbor birds who happen by
we'll bronze each autumn, bloom with spring,
and wear the white coats winters bring
the tree I marry with my dust
will husband me with rooted thrusts
our seed will scatter far and wide
across God's fertile countryside
and soon an arbor family
will share our immortality
a tree and me
"sighed the snake" と said ではなくて sighed になっているところがいかにも蛇の様子を表現しているようで面白いですね :-)
On her way to work one morning
Down the path along side the lake
A tender hearted woman saw a poor half frozen snake
His pretty colored skin had been all frosted with the dew
"Poor thing," she cried, "I'll take you in and I'll take care of you"
"Take me in tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake
She wrapped him all cozy in a comforter of silk
And laid him by her fireside with some honey and some milk
She hurried home from work that night and soon as she arrived
She found that pretty snake she'd taken to had bee revived
"Take me in, tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake
She clutched him to her bosom, "You're so beautiful," she cried
"But if I hadn't brought you in by now you might have died"
She stroked his pretty skin again and kissed and held him tight
Instead of saying thanks, the snake gave her a vicious bite
"Take me in, tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake
"I saved you," cried the woman
"And you've bitten me, but why?
You know your bite is poisonous and now I'm going to die"
"Oh shut up, silly woman," said the reptile with a grin
"You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in
"Take me in, tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake
