"At Long Last Love"

作曲・作詞 : Cole Porter

この曲はミュージカル（舞台） You Never Know (1938) で使われました。

コール・ポーターが書いた有名曲の一つです。
【コール・ポーター ソングブック】では未登場ですが、Ella Fitzgerald / Ella Loves Cole. 　Ella Fitzgerald / Dream Dancing の方には収録されていますので、いずれ登場する機会があるでしょう。


歌詞の中に「地震」が出てくる曲です。
他にも1938年なら一般に知られていた固有名詞が出てきますが、今の時代では解説がないと判りませんね ^^;

lifer : 終身刑
windfall : 降ってわいた幸せ
mock : まがいもの
real McCoy : 本物（謂れがあるようですが、省略します）
lark : 冗談、戯れ
Granada : スペイン南部の州、州都でアルハンブラ宮殿がある。（スペインの歴史と共に調べてくださいね）
Asbury Park : 米国ニュージャージー州の都市の名、公園の名前ではない。ありふれた郊外の街として例示している。

アレック・ワイルダーが書いた大スタンダード曲です。
実に多くの人たちが手がけています。

"John Pizzarelli featuring Daniel Jobim

このアルバム、さてシナトラのトピとジョビンのトピどちらに書き込むべきかと悩みましたがここは偉大なフランキーに敬意を表してシナトラのトピに書かせて頂きます。

今年（２０１７年）はジョビンの生誕９０周年に当たりますが、同時にジョビンがシナトラと共演したあの名盤「シナトラ・ジョビン」の録音から５０年目に当たるそうです。

そこでヴォーカル＆ギターのジョン・ピザレリが、やってくれました。
あの名盤へのトリビュートアルバムであり、しかもジョビンの孫であるダニエル・ジョビンまで参加しています。

オリジナル盤で歌われた１０曲のうち７曲が取り上げられ、ピザレリとしての解釈で現代風のボサノヴァアルバムに仕上げています。

テナーサックスのハリー・アレンも何曲か参加して、ゲッツライクなボサノヴァサウンドを聞かせてくれます。

アルバムの副題 Inspired by the music of Frank Sinatra はアルバムジャケットには小さく印字してあって、アルバム・データー・サイトでもこの副題を載せていないので、なかなかフランク・シナトラのソングブックとは気づきにくいのですが、間違いなくフランク・シナトラ・ソングブックです。

ライナーノーツによりますと

ティアニー・サットンはもともとフランク・シナトラのファンであったわけではない。
ある日、後の彼女の夫君との会話の中で、フランク・シナトラの "I'm a Fool to Want You "を聴いて涙し、音楽的にも個人的にも私の運命は決まってしまった。

私の最初のCDには、"I'm a Fool to Want you", "It Never Entered My Mind", "In the Wee Small Hours"が収録されていました。
その後の3枚のCDには、少なくとも私にとっては、すべてフランクのことを歌った曲が収録されています。

70年代に育ったシナトラのアイコンは、今でも私には興味がない。
私が無限の魅力を感じるのは、彼の作品の暗部なのだ。
だから、ここにある選曲は、一見するとあまり「シナトラ」らしくないように見えるかもしれない。
