JALT 児童英語部会　TC-SIGコミュの1st Tokyo Gathering Report

We have succesfully finished our 1st Tokyo Gathering on January 26th.

As the coordinator and the facilitator, I would like to extend my
appreciations to all the participants for coming (even from Iwate!) and Nellie
's for letting us use thier
seminar room.(and of course Yuco Kikuchi and Aleda Krause for keep it going)

We had 18 participants.(members, non-members, publishers)

Since it was our first meeting first half was an introduction to our SIG. Aled
a and Yuco who have been with the SIG from the early days, gave us the history
and how it is at the moment.

We have made some copies from our latest issue of TLC (Volumn 11 no. 3 Autumn
2006, FEELINGS)which the topic was chosen from and began our session with the
activities introduced in it.

Articles introduced were "All Together Now: Feelings"(Chris Hunt),and "Musical
Footnotes: Feelings(Kathleen Kampa&Charles Vilina). Aleda lead some activitie
s introduced in these articles and interacted with the participants, expanding
and sharing different ideas and tips under the topic of "feelings". (ajective
s related to feelings were introduced)

Naoko introduced activities as a pre-reading activity to the picture book "The
Seven Blind Mice". The participants actually experienced how it is to be blin
d by been blind folded and touched some objects.

Yuco shared flash card activities. Adjectives (emotions) and pronouns were use
d in this activities.

Participants interacted actively sharing their ideas. Questions were thought a
bout among all of us and many good comments and advice were given.

We have received good feedbacks and met many potential presentors for our conf
erence to come.

I hope to summerize the surveys after our 2nd gathering.

(needed to rush in writing this report as our second gathering is right around
the corner!!)
