Percy Shelley helped his wife Mary create the monster, A new Book Claims
Mary reputedly came up with the idea for Frankenstein after she and her future husband Percy whiled away a cold and dreary night with Lord Byron round the fireplace of his villa beside Lake Geneva in 1868.
It seems they were using the same pen and very likely were often writing in bed together….Percy changes Mary’s “handsome”…, to “beautiful”. He inserts the words “lustrous black” to describe the hair.
