在原行平、Ariwara no Yukihira

「立ち別れ
　　　　　いなばの山の峯におふる
　まつとし聞かばいま帰りこむ」

"I will leave for Mount Inaba
where a single pine tree
grows on the peak,
but if I hear that you pine for me,
I will come straight home to you."

在原行平
818-893、公卿、中納言に至る、在原兼平の兄、現存最古の歌合を主催。

Ariwara no Yukihira
Ariwara no Yukihira (818–893) was a court noble who rose to the rank of Middle Counselor (Chūnagon). He was the elder brother of Ariwara no Kanehira and hosted the oldest surviving poetry contest (uta-awase) in Japanese history.
