Recaptulation of the 69th poem story in the Tale of Ise

The photo is Nonomiya Shrine, which used to be the place
princess priestess who was to serve the supreme godess
Amaterasu-oomikami or the Great Sun Godess in the Grand
Shrien of Ise. Before a princess priestess moved into
Nonomiya Shrine, she had a seclution at her imperial court.
They had princess priestess from the 7the century to the 14th
century, for 660 years; 64 princesses served at the Ise Grand
Shrine.

We've read the most important part in The Tale of Ise.
It has been crucial if there was a consummation or not.
The text itself is ambiguous, for example the priestess's
bed chamber was close to his rom. What does this mean?
Since the man and the princess had been acquainted before
he came over to stay in the compound where the prince
preistess resided, it could be possible that her bed chamber
was not far from where the man stayed. Her bed chamber
and his room should not be in the same building.
The original text says "her bed chamber was close to his room,"
but how close? Here renga poets could have their ecriture.
As a matter of fact, this part of the Tale of Ise became a rich
source fot those renga poets to lecture; their audience were
mainly samurais. For example, "Here it is undermined that . . ."

It could be that the more crucial thing about this story is
that the pricess came to see him; those days it was always
boys that visited girls. This is the most stunning part, which
we don't share with them any more.
