Saturday 2nd April was a busy day for the band. In the morning we were at Resonance FM, a London-based community radio station, where we performed Diana and Song for Comus, and then did an interview. The podcast of the programme is at:

In the evening we did a sell-out show at The Borderline. This is a club just off the Charing Cross Road which is run by a terrific bunch of people, and there was a great audience. Thanks to everyone there, it was a great evening for us, and we hope for those there as well. Stills from the performance can be seen at: http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=all&q=+comus+borderline&m=text

Comus, your new favourite band!
Their first album, "First Utterance" appeared in 1971.
The music is largely acoustic art rock that blends elements of Eastern percussion, early folk and animal-like vocals.
The music evokes many feelings, but the most dominant are fear, confusion, despair, with occasional passages of tranquil beauty such as can be found in "The Herald".
The lyrics are dramatic, involving violence, murder, and mental disorder.
Apart from three tracks on First Utterance ("The Herald", "Diana" and "Bitten"), most of the songs were written by Roger Wootton and arranged by Glenn Goring.
The group disbanded after this album, but they reunited with new members for their second album, which was to be their swansong, To Keep from Crying, in 1974.
Back after a 35 year hiatus and sounding better than ever. Opening the set for a sold out Borderline with Song to comus, the crowd are ecstatic, Cheers and screams echo the room and it's more akin to a Take that gig than an acid folk freak-out!
Unbelievable that in essence they only made one proper album, but the reverential treatment that they are given is amazing.
Next up was a new song "Out of the Coma" with it's intricate Raga style guitar line, this really hits the spot.
The blend of guitar, flute, Violin and boy/girl harmonies was staggeringly good.
Most of the "First Utterance" album is played.
They end the set with "The bitten" and a rousing "Diana"
Although they play far to infrequently, when they do, their gigs are packed and there is magic in the air.
I noticed Steve (the nugget) Davis groovin' down at the front, (Yes he the master of the green baize!) so you know it had to be a great gig!
