Medical English-Japaneseコミュの熱中症　と　ニューヨーク市

日本では猛暑日が続くなか、熱中症にかかって、果ては、死亡にまで到るケースも何件かあるみたいです。アメリカでも、アリゾナ州など、砂漠地帯は耐えられないほど暑い。。　デスバリーを越えようと死ぬ違法移民のことなど、ニュースで聞いた覚えがあります。

北東海岸はそれほどでもないのですが、エルニーニョが来ると、日本も顔負けなぐらい湿気の高い猛暑日が続くことがあります。

このコミュに参加している方で、ニューヨーク市にお住いの方は、夏になると停電を　経験することもあるかと思います。

９１１が、日本の１１０番（Emergency)にあたるのですが、３１１は、Non-Emergencyです。猛暑が続くときは、Cooling Centers　が多箇所に設けられ、３１１に掛けると場所を教えてくれます。　今のところ、まだ熱波が来てないので、Cooling Centersは、定められてません。３１１は他にもハリケーンなどの自然災害、ビル崩壊、ビルのクレーン事故に関することまで尋ねる事ができるそうです。

３１１にかけると、１７０ヶ国語での通訳が可能だそうです。日本語がその中に入っているかどうか。。

さて。。ローカルな話は別にして、熱中症に関心があったので、ちょっと調べてみました。ニューイングランド（NEJM)に、リビュー記事があったので、付け加えてみました。


Heat Stroke

Heat wave
Three or more consecutive days during which　the air temperature is >32.2°C

Heat stress
Perceived discomfort and physiological strain　associated with exposure to a hot environment,　especially during physical work

Heat stroke
Severe illness characterized by a core temperature　>40°C and central nervous system　abnormalities such as delirium, convulsions,　or coma resulting from exposure to environmental　heat (classic heat stroke) or strenuous　physical exercise (exertional heat stroke)

Heat exhaustion
Mild-to-moderate illness due to water or salt　depletion that results from exposure to high　environmental heat or strenuous physical
exercise; signs and symptoms include intense　thirst, weakness, discomfort, anxiety, dizziness,　fainting, and headache; core temperature
may be normal, below normal, or　slightly elevated (>37°C but <40°C)

Hyperthermia
A rise in body temperature above the hypothalamic　set point when heat-dissipating mechanisms　are impaired (by drugs or disease) or　overwhelmed by external (environmental　or induced) or internal (metabolic) heat

Multiorgan-dysfunction　syndrome（MODS)
Continuum of changes that occur in more than　one organ system after an insult such as trauma,　sepsis, or heat stroke
