業平の色好み新説

伊勢物語　第６９段「狩の使い」は、在原業平が伊勢の斎宮になった
皇女と再会、皇女が業平に１０時半頃、逢いに来るが、「語らず」に
帰っていく。
ここで、「語る」とは寝屋の睦事の意味であり、有体に言うと、
二人は同衾していない。

これを英訳して紹介したら、デニス・牛蒡から以下のコメ。

Love and lust in those days could have been different from
love and lust in our days. They had no chance to see their

touched the priestess.

Another thing that suggests he did not touch her is the story
that the man in hid old age---this only means in his 30's or 40's---
he went to see the prince , now was a monk, and the former
prince gave him a bottle of sake and other things.
