For this quesition, I prefer to write in English. Both Japanese and English work for me.
I started to check into MySpace because I needed to learn how it works on business. Does anybody who have lots of experience on both of them and can tell pros and cons, where do you like or dislike of those two SNS?
Thank you for your valuable comments りんkan san, ジェットジャンキーさん。Sounds like MySpace is a totally different monster in many ways.
As of now, I just need to use MySpace for business (marketing) and I just need to carefully explore to get know about it. I would really join when I feel more comfortable.
Even with Mixi, I am still very careful and liimit my use. I had already learned pros and cons here.
In MySpace, *ever single page* is butt-ugly and slow-loading. It reminds of the bad old days of the Internet when people peppered their paged with animated gifs and slathered them with loud colors.
Sure, users in Mixi can't change their pages, but at least I know my eyes won't bleed looking at a stranger's page in Mixi -- unlike MySpace.
I don't even mind the three photo limit. Why do we need to see 40 blurry photos of my drunken friend's butts at some party? We don't -- no one does. Mixi makes me think about which photos I am going to use rather than put them all up an annoy everyone.
Honest I like both. I like 2 customize my page And Put a song on it. But I like readin the diaries a song on it. But I like readin the diaries, and commenting. And
I really really like the Footprints cuz I can c who has
Been lookin at my page。But I also like 2 comment on
Photos! Both are good 2 me
I guess the thing I hate most when looking at a web page (any page) is music. When I am at my computer, chances are that I am already enjoying my own music. The last thing I want is some other music (or some other sound I didn't choose to play) to come blaring through the speakers just because I looked at a webpage.
The vast majority of users on MySpace don't realize that web pages usually for *others* to view -- not for one's own vanity. With that in mind, why annoy people with music they might not like or ask to hear? It's a good thing Mixi doesn't allow that either.
From a business perspective, I believe MySpace is growing as a new marketing target. Many movies, music and TV shows are advertised on MySpace. Millions of users log onto myspace every minute of every day. I notice in school people are checking and updating their myspace website during classes. It seems like a lot of people are spending a lot of time on this site. So, as a marketing tool, I believe MySpace will be a site definately worth looking into.
Just a quick note: Thank you everybody so far. Your comments saved A LOT of my time to explore MySpace, which I have not done much.
I will keep on reading all of your comments closely and would welcome more info and comments.
As ak1998 put, I heard about the trick to become "FRIENDS" in MySpace with Hillary Clinton, and all VIPs for them to just send you their ad to get your vote eventually. Some people just need lots of "FRIENDS".
Over all, as YUKI put, MySpace for Business, Mixi for personal, except for people who do not read Japanese seems to be a way to go.
Mixi is much safer, MySpace is much more powerful for marketing.
