Following the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear meltdowns local grassroot animal rescue groups are acting to save companion animals left without food, protection and family.

HEART-Tokushima, Animal Garden Niigata and Japan Cat Network have been rescuing and rehoming animals in Japan for many years. They are working tirelessly to keep animal rescue on the agenda, provide shelter space, coordinate some Earthquake/Tsunami animal rescues.

The groups all operate a no-kill policy.

Animal Rescue in Kansai is also working to help. They have similar experience from the 1995 Kobe disaster.
