Jan Heylen rises up to Champ Car World Series 06.04.2006: Jan Heylen, ex driver of the team JB Motorsport will drive 2006 in one of the fastest racing series of the world. The Belgian got a Cockpit at the Champ Car World Series.
At JB Motorsport everybody is glad to hear these news from the 25-years old friend from Geel. 2004 he fought for the championship of the Recaro Formula 3 Cup together with the team of his compatriots. That time he got into the cup in the middle of the season, booked six wins and a lot of rostrum places on his account and had the chance to win the title up to the last race. Unforgotten should be his victories at the Truck Grand Prix at Nürburgring when he had flawless races. While cloudburst showers set the track under water he crowned himself the king of rain. After his third place in the German Formula 3, the Belgian changed to the Renault Megane World Series. There he sovereign won the title.
Now the young JB pilot climbs up in a racing series which is announced as the American equivalent of the Formula 1. At team Dale Coyne Racing he had his debut last week with a test and signed the contract for this season on Wednesday. Jan Heylen who is in California at present will be team mate of ex Formula 1 driver Christiano da Matta: "Having Cristiano Da Matta as a team mate will be a great help in my first year with all his experience. I look forward to working alongside him to bring the team success. I feel Champ Cars is a great move for my career. I am very motivated to carry on from my recent successful Champ Car tests and I cannot wait for the first race which is only days away."
In Roeselare especially team chief Yves Olivier enjoys about the success of his protégé and friend: "I already know Jan for a very long time and I am happy about his rising up to the phenomenal racing series. When ever it was possible for me to help Jan, I've done it. I wish him good luck and success in America."
