06.02.2006: Now and after Robert Doornbos and Ho-Pin Tung also Joao Paulo de Oliveira made an excursion to Formula1 as third pilot of the Formula3 Racing Team JB-Motorsport.
Last Friday JP tested the Williams FW27C in Valencia. 32 laps the South American had of disposal to manage car and track, and at the end he marked a fast lap with 1:13.918 min. on the Spanish course.
For recollection: JP who drove some successful races for JB Motorsport already in 2002 was taken under contract by the Belgian racing team for the 2003 season. As "Dominator" of that year he entered the history of the German Formula3. Already after 12 of 16 races and with altogether 13 wins the young Brazilian was the first champion of the new Recaro Formula3 Cup. 2004 JP moved to Japan and won the title of the Japanese Formula3 Championship in 2005.
The Team from Roeselare is very proud of its protégés, which ways leads to higher racing classes. Yves Olivier, JB-Teamchef and once DTM pilot himself: "Of course I pursue the careers of our drivers very detailed and I support them wherever I can. Certainly JP is one of our fastest drivers and I am pleased that Frank Williams gave him the chance to test the Formula1 car."
Already last year JB driver Ho-Pin Tung had the opportunity for a drive in the racing car of the traditional British racing team. And Formula1 races where driven by Robert Doornbos last year. The Dutch who was 2001 employed by JB was behind the steering wheel of the cars of Jordan and Minardi 2005.
