We love New Zealand！コミュのJapanese Partnership Visa

Hi there,

Does anyone know about getting a Partnership visa for Japan? I'm a Kiwi and my wife is Japanese. We're thinking about going back to Japan so I want to get a Partnership visa. Has anyone tried this? I went to the Japanese Embassy, but they said I have to contact immigration in Japan. Since I'm in NZ I checked out the info on the net, but it seems too simple. It just says I need a wedding certificate, a letter from my wife's parents, something to show what my job is and a letter saying why I want to go to Japan. This seems too easy compared to a working visa. Does anyone know where I can find out all the information about what I need to do?

Go & visit http://www.mofa.go.jp
Crick 'Visa' and see IV - A, Type and Categories of Visa.

You are married to Japanese person, so you should be able to get Spouse Visa.
It says up to 3 years.

I was talking to a friend of mine who got it, and he said it was much easier than getting a working visa. But he actually went to Japan on a holiday visa and then changed to a spouse visa.

I checked out the Mofa page which seems simple, but I found another government page that said I need a few extra things. I guess I should call immigration in Japan and ask them exactly what I need.

By the way, where are you guys living? We're in Wellington.

That's probably the best idea.

We are in Mid Canterbury, little town called Methven.
It is the bottom of Mt. Hutt Ski Area.

You must be tuff! My wife doesnt like the cold in NZ so we could live down there.
