Veamos este dialogo.

apart from hola, ¿qué tal? we also say ¿qué tal estás? (konnichiha, genki?)

the aswer is bien, but we also say, "bien, gracias", (genki, arigatou)

you can also say "muchas gracias" (doumo arigatou)

also "muy bien", this will be like..."totemo genki".i cannot remmeber the japanese for this, sorry...

they also say "fatal" this is the opposite of genki, we also say "no muy bien", like, not very well.

¿y tú? this is to ask the other perosn, like "hai, genki, anata ha?" this is to ask back the other persoon, literally "and you?"

yo bien, yo muy bien, yo fatal, in fact i will say it with estar verb "yo estoy bien" "yo estoy muy bien" "yo estoy fatal, o, me encuentro fatal"

about "estupendo", you can say that but it sounds a bit strange, but the other one "fenomenal" is more natural, it is like "i feel great"

you can answer to ¿qué tal? both "fenomeno", "fenomenal" or "estoy fenomal" spanish is quite flexible, and soon enoguh you will realice no matter how incorrect you make a sentence that people will understand you anyway.
