Hey Bernadette and Toyomi,
It sure seems to me like you got it right when you said,

"hora ne" as both horane and "mind you" are phrases used when getting people's attention so to speak. From Dan in Minnesota.

Thanks Dan, at the end though, I decided to write 'souda toshitemo' as it was a written essay but I will try to use this expresssion to see people's reaction and see how it fits in conversation.

Help again, my Japanese speaking friends. I am due to do a presentation on the right to Free Speech.

Is there any other way (apart from katakana) to express 'Free Speech', the right to say what one wants?

How would you say, Free speech is the symbol of a real democracy? Any other useful expressions would be gratefully appreciated. I do not really know enough Japanese to do justice to such a topic, unfortunately.

Many thanks in asvance
Bernadette
