＜訳者あとがき ／ 本書は 2006 年に英国 Radcliffe Publishing Ltd から出版された、”What seems to be the trouble? –Stories in illness and healthcare” の全訳である。 著者の Trisha Greenhalgh 教授の単著としては、本書が本邦で3冊目の翻訳出版となる。 ／ Greenhalgh 教授は、1998年 BMJ Books から発行された、”Narrative Based Medicine – Dialogue and Discourse in Clinical Practice” （斎藤清二・山本和利・岸本寛史監訳： ナラティブ・ベイスト・メディスン − 臨床における物語りと対話．金剛出版，2001）の編著者として、本邦にも広く知られている。 ／ Narrative Based Medicine （NBM：物語と対話に基づく医療）は、患者の語る物語を全面的に尊重し、患者と医療者の対話の中から、新しい物語が生まれてくることを期待する、という基本姿勢を堅持するような医療である。 NBM という概念は、Evidence Based Medicine (EBM：科学的根拠に基づく医療)を補完するものとして医療界に登場したが、本来 EBM に対立するものではなく、EBM と NBM は医療における車の両輪である。 ［･･･］ ＞
