英語口語コーナーコミュのasの使い方

いつもasの使い方で混乱するので、教えて下さい！二つのasの文を紹介します。

As far as pricing goes, the prices vary depending on what you get.

I realized that as we grow old we learn who and what are people could be real friends.

両方とも　asは「～につれて」って感じの意味ですよね。でも、うまく使えないんです。下の文を上の文のasの使い方にして言うこともできるんですか？

わかる方、教えて下さい☆

i dont think the second sentense makes sense because there are too many verbs.
also the meaning of 'as' in the second sentense could be 'because' or 'since.'

i would rewrite like this;;;

As i have grown up, i realized who my real friends are.

or also

As we got older, i can figure out the difference between just friends and real friends.

what do u think?
