Responsible Conduct in Research Course for Postdoctoral Fellows

Individuals considering applying for grants and fellowships from federal and private sponsors are invited to participate in training offered through Harvard’s institutional Responsible Conduct in Research (RCR) course.

Through four, 1-½ hour sessions, this course is designed to provide a comprehensive curriculum through a case study methodology that covers the major areas of research integrity, a vital component for scholars conducting scientific research, and other topics to help new scholars carry out projects in an effective, efficient, and responsible manner. The course is designed to meet the criteria required to apply for extramural grants and fellowships. PLEASE NOTE: Eligibility is limited to postdoctoral fellows in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Cambridge professional schools, HSPH, and HMS/HDMS "quad" postdocs. (However, quad postdocs should check with the HMS postdoc office about the HMS RCR course offering as well.) Postdoctoral fellows with primary appointments at affiliated teaching hospitals are not eligible to enroll in this course.

It is the intention of the course to:
- address common concerns of junior researchers on their journey to becoming independent researchers and members of the community of scholar
-provide certification to participants that satisfy the requirements of Federal sponsors regarding training in Responsible Conducts of Research
-familiarize participants with Research Administration staff and the assistance they can provide

The learning environment will foster mutually supportive discussions, using short cases studies or vignettes and presentations by the instructor and Research Administration staff. Limited readings are required, with links to CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) that lead to more in-depth information on each topic. Upon registration you will receive the reading assignments to prepare for each session.
