世にも哀れな物語

米UCLA銃撃、容疑者宅から「殺害リスト」 別の殺害も計画

今年の3月にこのサーカーがこういうツイートをしてた、ってんで

https://twitter.com/benmafoi/status/738208457015349248

Picture this:

You have a lower middle class family in a poor country. To them, you're the ray of hope who's going to pull them out of near poverty. You're the first child from the family to go to a prestigious university. You've played by the rules. You cracked one of the toughest entrance exams in the world (IIT undergrads are revered, like ENS of France. A lot of I Banks hire for quant roles in their London/Singapore/HK offices, Silicon Valley firms etc directly from IIT). It is likely that this guy had such job offers upon graduation from IIT. Instead, he chose to pursue a PhD because of his idealistic love for the subject (some BS fed to him by his profs and seniors). He lands in UCLA, sees all these dumbf**k pretty people partying, having fun and having sex (for aspies, this is a major source of stress - not getting laid). He's working on his PhD, thinking what will happen of his uncertain future. Very few local women would date him, his options are limited to traditional girls from his province back home. Painstakingly, he develops oneitis for a half decent girl. He realizes that his peers from undergrad who went to industry are making 10X as much money as him. He sucks it up and thinks that there's a pot of gold at the end that'll make it worthwhile for him. His gf keeps telling him that for her to marry him, he'll need a job with a stable income.

He finishes his PhD painstakingly. Doesn't get a job. Then his gf dumps him. He's lonely. Down and out.

He's searching for people to blame for his failure. He thinks of his prof, who has published 5 papers using his hardwork. He sees his prof make all the money. He has no money. No girl.

The world has failed him. His parents ask him 'when he will get a job, make money and get married'. He can't tell them that the girl he was planning to marry has left him because he doesn't have a job.

This might sound overdramatized, but put yourself in his shoes. Have a little empathy.

It takes a lot to shoot yourself.

I do have respect for your society. I follow your laws. I have even altered my way to life to fit in better. I attend your baseball games, despite knowing nothing of the sport when I landed here. I'm not some sharia moron who wants the right to slaughter goats in the middle of the road or broadcast prayers from the mosque at 5 AM. I pay taxes which are used to support welfare programs for the disenfranchised which your so called 'obviously superior societies' produce.

'Cheap, Inferior labour?' Why don't you ask what Wall Street or Silicon Valley think of the Indians they hire? Perhaps they are 'cheap and inferior', which is why they promote them to CEO.

Funfact : My friend who works for a tech company told me 'My White manager said you Indians are great workers. If I hire a White American, he will complain about the chair, leave at 5 PM sharp even if there is some urgent work'. Even if you haven't voted for 'cheap, inferior labour' (something tells me you are equating Indians with Mexicans), it is YOUR firms which want us. There are Master's programs which are filled with migrant students. Companies want to hire only migrants, they don't want locals because of their poor work ethic and low skill level. How would your business schools run if you didn't have a steady supply of overpriced full tuition paying foreigners?

Coming to the point, your 'obviously superior societies' have imposed your institutions on other countries, even when those institutions were clearly not a great fit with the culture.

Firms from your 'obviously superior society' make a significant profit off doing business with us.

Newsflash: Global borders and national sovereignty don't matter as much as they used to. The world is increasingly interconnected and global.

If China and Saudi Arabia didn't buy your government bonds and paper money, I'd like to know how your 'obviously superior society' would hold.

と答えて。あぁ、やっぱり日本人はインド人とお友達にならなきゃね、って思ったわ。ウインク
