僧正遍昭、Archbishop Henjō

「天つ風
　　　　　雲の通い路吹きとぢよ
　をとめの姿しばしとどめむ」

"Breezes of Heaven, blow closed
the pathway through the clouds
to keep a little longer
these heavenly dancers
from returning home."

僧正遍昭
816-890、桓武天皇の孫、蔵人頭となるも後に出家、六歌仙・三十六歌仙の一人。

Archbishop Henjō
Henjō (816–890) was a grandson of Emperor Kanmu. He became Head Chamberlain (Kurodo no Tō) at the imperial court, but later renounced the world and became a Buddhist monk. He is regarded as one of the Six Immortal Poets (Rokkasen) and the Thirty-six Immortal Poets (Sanjūrokkasen).
