持統天皇、Empress Jitō

「春過ぎて
　　　　　夏来にけらし白妙の
　衣ほすてふ天の香具山」

"Spring has passed,
and the white robes of summer are being aired
on fragrant Mount Kagu - beloved of the gods."

持統天皇
645-702、第41代天皇、天武天皇の皇后でその崩御後に即位する。父は天智天皇。

Empress Jitō
Empress Jitō (645–702) was the 41st sovereign of Japan. She was the empress consort of Emperor Tenmu and ascended the throne after his death. She was the daughter of Emperor Tenji.
