JAMES YAMA
About 10km West from the city center of KOBE,
"James Yama" is located on the hill in Shioya
sporting absolutely superb views of Osaka Bay.
James Yama("yama" means mountain) is named after
the British trader, Ernest Williames James,
who bought and turned the area to the foreigners'
residential area.
This area is well known as the place which
Mr. James himself lived. Nobody knows since when,
but now it is called "James Yama".
After the World War 2,in 1950's,
the founder restored this devastated area to
the upper-class foreigners' quiet residential area.
As it is now, he also developed the vast hill
next to it to the suburb residential area of Kobe.
