Title JOY: The Spiral Dynamics of Spiritual Health Realization
Abstract The purpose of this study is to present an integral model of spiritual health realization. The model is derived from the theories on health and spirituality. The area involved comprises health science and transpersonal thought. The model uses quantitative and qualitative assessments of my educational practice. The term ‘spiritual health’ is used both in the meaning of the fourth (transcendent) dimension of health and the ‘holistic health’ which includes all four dimensions of health. I have attempted to integrate both definitions by proposing a spiral dynamic model of spiritual health realization. The model has two aspects: dimensions and factors. Spiritual health realization has four dimensions: physical, mental/psychological, social and spiritual/holy. The factors of spiritual health realization (awareness, will, and joy) have been abstracted from the exploratory factor analysis of the outcome on AWJ-TEST (my scale to measure spiritual health based on psychosynthesis theory). Awareness is concerned with the connectedness with self, others, nature and the transcendent. Will has a directive and regulatory function without suppressing fundamental drives. Joy is mediated by gratitude of the interconnectedness. Spiritual health type is classified on the basis of the factors and the appropriate educational approaches are provided for each type. The spiral dynamic model suggests the possibility of spiritual health realization in any dimensions in any types of spiritual health based on the fundamental construct, Joy.
The purpose of this study is to propose an integral model of spiritual health realization. This model is derived from the theories on health and spirituality. The area involved comprise health science and transpersonal ideas. The model uses quantitative and qualitative assessments of my spiritual health education. The use of the term ‘spiritual health’ is confused with the use of the 'fourth (transcendent) dimension of health' and the ‘holistic health’.
(I have attempted to integrate both definitions by proposing a spiral dynamic model of spiritual health realization.) I don't understand why you proposed this in this flow of writing.. (the 'confuse' in the previous sentence may be wrong word.)
The spiral dynamic model of spiritual health realization has three aspects: dimensions, processes and factors. The physical, mental/psychological, social and spiritual/holly are the four dimensions. The processes include identification of personal self, dis-identification of personal self, and identification of the transpersonal self. The factors (awareness, will, and joy) have been extracted from an exploratory factor analysis. These have also been supported by the qualitative assessments of my spiritual health education. By the awareness I mean that for the connectedness with self, others, nature and the transcendent. The will has a directive and regulatory function. The joy is mediated by gratitude of the interconnectedness. The analysis of the Spiritual health is divided into eight types and the educational approaches on the basis of the factors are presented. It is suggested that the Spiritual health realization has spiral dynamics and is available in any developmental levels in any types of the spiritual health based on the fundamental construct, Joy.
