BEANPOLE soccer ace PETER CROUCH was given a stepladder as a birthday joke – so his girlfriend could reach him.
The 6ft 7in Liverpool striker walked into the club’s Melwood training ground to find his gift wrapped in ribbons.

And a cheeky note from teammates and ground staff suggested stunning ABBEY CLANCY could put it to good use – on Peter, 27.

Gift ... ladder
A Reds source said: “Crouchy is always the butt of jokes at the club – mainly from JAMIE CARRAGHER and JOHN ARNE RIISE.

“He laughed along with the joke – but he didn’t take the steps home to show Abbey.

“He was saying she doesn’t need ladders because he can change all the light bulbs in the house himself.”

England star Peter lives in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, with blonde model Abbey, 22. They have been dating for nearly three years after meeting in a Liverpool club.

Fun-loving Crouch had fans laughing after celebrating a goal for England against Hungary in 2006 by doing his robot dance.

And teammates have dubbed him Rodney after the Only Fools and Horses plonker.
