英語/日本語でいうと?英会話コミュのこんな時 No.29　ゲリラ豪雨編

最近夏になると、よくニュースで流れる『ゲリラ豪雨』
日本語でもすごい名前ですよね。

予測が困難で、突発的で局地的な雨。
先日もいきなりバケツをひっくり返したような大雨と雷！道路にまで水が溢れ出してきて、もうすごかったです。でもその１時間後にはすっかり上がってました。

さぁ今回はこのゲリラ豪雨（集中豪雨）を英語を使って、言ってみよう！

It`s been a long time since I have been able to find the time to answer questions, I am sorry!

Have you heard the expression `It`s raining cats and dogs`?
How about `It`s bucketing down`?
Or, for a very casual conversation we might say `It`s pissing down`.

`Pissing` is a very casual / rude way to say `urinating` or `wee weeing` (kids way), so be careful! Many people will not like this expression!

Here are a few more expressions:
It`s coming down in buckets!
It`s pouring down! / It`s pouring outside!

There is a kids song that goes like this:

It`s raining, it`s pouring, the old man is snoring.
He bumped his head on the end of his bed and he couldn`t get up in the morning!

One more for good luck...

It`s coming down in sheets!

I hear that it is raining cats and dogs in Australia at the moment...
It's a strange expression, but it is quite useful!

There have been some flash floods across NSW...can you understand?
