Answer: sometimes
V + "ly" or "y" or "consonent and y) = adjective
example: hop , hoppy
growl, growly
purr, purry
(growly and purry are not true words, this is a children's book, but we understand the meaning, because it is a manufactured adjective that seems relevent. hop, growl and purr are what these animals do.) The words are not that important, but you figured out the concept and that's really good!)
Spiky
Noun (spike) drop the e and add y becomes adjective 先端のとがった
Slimy
Noun (slime) drop the e and add y becomes adj. めるめるした、粘液性の
Floppy
Verb (flop) add another p to keep the vowel "o" short sound, and add y.
だらりとした
Spiky, Slimy and Floppy are all useful vocabulary words.
