I think the best city in the US is whatever city I happen to be living in. All of the cities I have had the opportunity to live in have been the best in one way or other.
Here--Los Angeles is always appealing to many.
We have culture, diversity, and above all, we have THE weather!:-)
NYC is extremely diverse, dense and cultured.
Boston was very charming and also sophisticated.
San Francisco always has its charm no other cities can match.
I found Seattle is a little charming gem of the West.
I'm from San Diego too. I lived here all of my life.
So I'd have to say San Diego.
Most people here are nice overall. We have some bad areas just like everywhere else but for the most part it's a beautiful city. The weather is warm throughout the year and there are fun places to hang out. It's small enough to go to all of the fun spots in less than 30 minutes.
It's expensive though. For traveling it's good because we have Sea World, San Diego Zoo, USS Midway Museum, Balboa Park, San Diego Wild Animal Park, Legoland, etc.
I'm from the North Bay of California and I like it here because you can find everything within an hour or two drive (beach, mountains, snow, etc.). The weather's pretty fair except being so close to the close makes the temperature swing from day to night.

Yeah, Hotlanta! ha ha...I love atlanta but I love most cities I visit for one reason or another. It’s Pretty much more about your attitude than anything else...
haha alot of people are from san diego!!
me too
born and raised
i agree its one of the nicest places to visit, like belmont park, gotta love the roller coaster, all the beaches, and how close we are to tijuana's club scene.
I'm from Philly too... I'll second it.
Actually Philly is an interesting city... a lot of art, culture and entertainment... only 2 hours from NYC, but culture is very different...
Unfortunately, high crime rate is a problem... meaning many of the residential neighborhoods are NO GO zones. :-(
Miami in Florida is the best. I travelled a lot of cities, such as
San Diego, Santa Monica, San Francisco, Seattle, Palm Springs, Las Vegas,
Phoenix in Arizona, Chicago, Anchorage in Alaska, New York city and Guam.
I used to live in Orange county where I do love,
but I think that Miami is the Best of city in America.
Because The food tastes great, I can watch wild animals,
see sky blue ocean and retro houses, and people are so kind
I'd have to say my hometown of Chicago. Its a pretty diverse city in terms of ethnicity and it has a great night life. Plus the bars stay open later there than other parts of the country. The people
are a lot like the people from Osaka. There is a very casual attitude in the people and the way
they talk which may seem offensive to other people in the country, much like the Kansai dialect.
Screw talking about Cities !! Let's talk about States !! haha ... I would say California (San Francisico, Los Angeles, San Diego, Oakland, Santa Barbara, Orange County, Lake Tahoe and my little Hometown of Sacramento !!) It's a perfect blend of everything, You can surf, raft, ski/snowboard, ride canyons on your motorcycle, party w/ stars, bungee off bridges, taste foods from all over the world because we're a country all of our own. Check out how much we export... look at how many things came out of California.. the list goes on !! ....
I have to agree that cities on the West Coast are great. I was born in Los Angeles, but moved to the East Coast later in life. While Boston, and New York etc can be fun, to live in them isn't so great in my opinion.
I've lived all over the US, and I gotta say that Portland is by far the coolest place I've lived. I didn't like the rain so much, but the vibe, culture, and people were awesome. Seattle, and southern california are pretty cool too.
But even though it's east coast... RED SOX :) I do love Boston :)
