Hello everyone! We have not used the Sacred Run newsletter mailing list since the end of Sacred Run 2006 last April. As plans are being finalized for this year's event, we thought we better dust off the old mailing list and be in touch! Here's hoping you are all well!
Thanks for your many emails asking to subscribe to the newsletter. And thank you for your many inquiries about Sacred Run in 2007 and 2008. Here is what we know so far:
1. This year's Sacred Run will be a Caravan from San Francisco to Crawford, TX. The purpose of the caravan is to take the message of peace to Prez's home in Crawford. In addition, we will scout out the route for next year's 30th anniversary of the Longest Walk. There will be a memorial pipe ceremony in San Francisco at 7am on Sunday, February 11, 2007 (location will be posted on the website when we get the word: www.sacredrun.org). The Caravan will leave on Friday morning, February 16th (again, location to be posted later).
2. Please join Dennis for a kick-off potluck dinner THIS SATURDAY, February 10, 2007, 5-9 pm at the Inter-Tribal Friendship House, 523 International Blvd, Oakland, California, (between 5th and 6th Avenues). All are welcome. Please bring a dish to share. Dennis Banks will speak about the Crawford trip and the message that "All Life is Sacred". Additionally, Dennis will talk about plans for the 2008 Longest Walk II.
3. Because the 2008 event will be a 30 year rewalk of the 1978 walk, many people will be walking with us: elders, families, children, and people from many walks of life. We expect the number of participants to be in the hundreds as we leave San Francisco, and thousands as we arrive in Washington, D.C. We will need help, lots of help!
If you would like to participate in the pre-planning caravan, please stay tuned for more information. (www.sacredrun.org)
Please join us and help us plan this important event. We cannot do the Longest Walk II without the help of many, many people.
Pass this message onto anyone you believe would be interested.
