Journal of Internal Medicineの8月号にスポーツにおける薬物使用との過去40年以上の闘いに関するレビューが掲載された。
ドーピングが初めて大きなニュースになったのは1960年のローマオリンピックにおける自転車競技選手である。その後対策が行われてきたが新しい薬物は運動能力を高めつつ検査を逃れるようなものになってきている。
