カリフォルニア北部とバージニアにおける移民の農場労働者の家族についての論文2報を紹介。American Journal of Industrial Medicineの論文では子どもたちの尿の検体からこの手の調査では最も高いレベルの農薬暴露が見つかっている。農場労働者の親の30-40%が農薬についての訓練を受けておらず、これはEPA規制違反である。子どもたちの多くは農場から帰ってきた人がシャワーを浴びないまま入ってくる、あるいは着替えをする場所に住んでいる。もう一つの論文では農場で働く移民の母親に農薬についての認識を尋ねている。多くの場合、農薬の特長は臭いと認識しており、匂わない場合には対応していない。また子どもを農場で遊ばせることもある。
