I don't know much about "Dutch" restaurants in Amsterdam (I prefer foreign food!)
Haring and kroket are more like "snacks"
You can get haring in small "fish shops"
although the "new catch" of Haring isn't "in" yet.,.. (these are the best! and they sell them everywhere)
You can also get Kroket everywhere (in "snack shops")
I recommend the "kwekkeboom" kroket or the "van Dobbe" kroket.
The last one you can get at a snack shop near the "Rembrandtsplein"
There are a couple of statues there of "Rembrandt" and of his painting "the nightwatch"
If you are looking at the "nightwatch", than behind that, there is the statue of "Rembrandt" and BEHIND that, there is a street...
In THAT street there is a "snack shop" and you can get a "van Dobbe" kroket!.
The shops doesn't look "inviting", but they have the best "kroket"!
Hi again...
I forgot to say "bitterballen" are also a kind of snack. these are almost the same as "kroketten" (just smaller)
You can get these at some cafes as well (just check their "food or "snack" menu)
I ALSO forgot to say, that "Hutspot" and "Erwtensoep" (split pea soup) are more traditional winter dishes..
So EVEN if you find a nice restaurant, they might not have it on the menu... (but I am not sure about that...)
Indeed,
I don't eat "NIKUJAGA" in Japanese restaurants.
(Do you know "NIKUJAGA"?)
I think
local specialities are not eating at a restaurant but mother's taste.
Some of Holland dishies what I want to eat can get at a snack shop, ok?
I'm looking forward to being able to eat the snack of the Holland.
I don't plan to go to "Rembrandtsplein".
I did't know the statues of 'Night Watch' ・・・
But I want to go "Rembrandtsplein" and see the statues
and eat snacks.
In fact, I don't go the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
I am "HANA YORI DANGO"(花より団子)
In an English proverb,
Fair words fill not the belly・・・
I don't eat to live,
I live to eat. (f^^;)
Thank you to teach a lot of information.
By the way
do you know the cafe '11' in Stedeliijk Museum of Modern Art?
I want to go there in the evening
and I am view as for the town in Amsterdam.
Hi Mi,
The "Rembrandtplein" is just a "street name" (=Rembrandt Square (so you can see the statues for free too)) there are some bars there and some restaurants, it's in the city centre... (I haven't been to any restaurants near there, so I can not say, if they are any good)
Yes I know "11"
BUT I have to disappoint you...
There is a NEW building next to it, which is almost the same height.
So it blocks the view...
(I was very disappointed when I went to "11" a monthy ago...)
I misunderstand Rembrandt Square and the Rembrandtplein.
Dank U wel.
You went to "11" a month ago ?!
Thank you for very valuable information.
I knew the hotel around the station renewal on the homepage.
Is it redeveloped around the station?
I give up going to "11".
I am regrettable though I like to see scenery from a high place.
It is disappointed for us that it built new building next to the shop.
But it is redeveloped around the station,
and when a wonderful shop is completed, it is good.
Near the eki, there is a lot of redevelopment...
You can still go to 11 and you can still see a big part of Amsterdam!
Just a bit less, since the new building...
(And you can just walk in for free... So if you like it you can stay and eat or else you can just go again...
DON'T EAT THE CHILI CHICKEN! Last time I ate it it was horrible!)
Are you in Holland already?
Hi..
Jordanian district? I have never heard it called that in English..
You might think there are a lot of people from the Middle East over there!
but it's a VERY Dutch/ Amsterdam's neighbourhood.. Hahaha...
I don't really know any restaurants there...
I only know the "Westertoren" (old tower) and the "Westermarkt" (a market at the bottom of this tower..)
Gomen, I can't help you very much...
(If you are asking about this in Amsterdam, don't ask about "Jordanian district", people might not understand... We call it: "De Jordaan" (デ ヨルダーン) )
I'm sorry.
I have made a mistake in the name of a place of Amsterdam again.
I wanted to ask you about ヨルダン.
I didn't know "ヨルダン" spelling.
I looked for ヨルダン splling from the map of guide book.
But I couldn't look for ヨルダン spelling.
So I seached the spelling of ヨルダン on the homepage translated into English.
It is necessary to have searched on the translation site on Dutch・・・
Before going to Holland,
you teach me many imporant inforamations.
I'm very happy to get informations from the living Holland.
Hi guys, reading your conversation was sooo funny!
I mean, I am 100% japanese, born and raised in Amsterdam, but I didn't know that the kroket, erwtensoep and such were known in Japan.
I suppose that you are back from Holland by now. Hope you liked it?
If I had known, I would have taken you to a Dutch pancake restaurant in the JORDAAN. I am sure that you have never eaten a pancake with cheese and bacon!
I am 100% Dutch, but I think Pancakes should neither have cheese nor bacon...
I also found, that a lot of Nihonjin really like "stroopwafels" (You can even buy Dutch Stroopwafels in Japan!)
