The Hub chain of bars is usually not my favorite place to drink. However, I have been going there recently after discovering their Hub Original Ale. I think it is a very good beer. They recently started selling a special 'Winter' version of the ale. I recommend that you try a pint! Cheers.

If you have a good beer, why would you want food? Just kidding! I generally agree with you about the food at Hub. The menu needs a major overhaul. However, I do have a weakness for their 'waffle cut'spicy fried potatoes and I think the gorgonzola gnocchi is okay.
Lately, I have found myself separating where I eat and drink. This is probably because 'bar food' doesn't usuallly excite me and you often pay too much for what you get (i.e. HUB).
If the HUB didn't have such conveniently located bars (one near my house and several near my office), I doubt I would go there so often!
