It was the third of September That day I'll always remember, yes I will 'Cause that was the day that my daddy died I never got a chance to see him Never heard nothing but bad things about him Mama, I'm depending on you to tell me the tuth
And Mama just hung her head and said "Son, Papa was a rolling stone Wherever he laid his hat was his home (And when he died) All he left us was alone" "Papa was a rolling stone, my son Wherever he laid his hat was his home (And when he died) All he left us was alone"
Well, well
Hey Mama, is it true what they say that Papa never worked a day in his life And Mama, some bad talk going around town saying that Papa had three outside children and another wife And that ain't right Hey, talk about Papa doing some store front preaching Talked about saving souls and all the time leaching Dealing in debt and stealing in the name of the Lord
Mama just hung her head and said "Papa was a rolling stone, my son Wherever he laid his hat was his home (And when he died) All he left us was alone" "Hey, Papa was a rolling stone Wherever he laid his hat was his home (And when he died) All he left us was alone"
Ugh
Hey Mama, I heard Papa called himself a jack of all trades Tell me is that what sent Papa to an early grave Folks say Papa would beg, borrow, steal to pay his bills Hey Mama, folks say that Papa was never much on thinking Spent most of his life chasing women and drinking Mama, I'm depending on you to tell me the truth
And Mama looked up with a tear in her eye and said "Son, Papa was a rolling stone (Well, well, well, well) Wherever he laid his hat was his home (And when he died) All he left us was alone, lone, lone, lone, alone" "Papa was a rolling stone Wherever he laid his hat was his home (And when he died) All he left us was alone"
"I said, Papa was a rolling stone Wherever he laid his hat was his home (And when he died) All he left us was alone"
It was the third of September." Soul On!
Wherever he laid his hat was his home"このフレーズ、
Wherever I Lay My Hat Thats My Home"この曲と比べると面白いね。

WHEREVER I LAY MY HAT (THAT'S MY HOME)
By the look in your eye I can tell you're gonna cry.
Is it over me?
If it is, save your tears
for I'm not worth it, you see.
For I'm the type of boy who is always on the roam,
wherever I lay my hat that's my home,
I'm telling you that's my home.
You had romance, did you break it by chance
over me?
If it's so I'd like for you to know
that I'm not worth it, you see.
For I'm the type of boy who is always on the roam, mm,
wherever I lay my hat that's my home,
mm, that's my home.
Oh, you keep telling me, you keep telling me I'm your man.
What do I have to do to make you understand?
For I'm the type of guy who gives girl the eye,
everybody knows.
But I love them and I leave them,
break their hearts and deceive them everywhere I go.
Don't you know that I'm the type of man who is always on the roam,
wherever I lay my hat that's my home.
wherever I lay my hat, oh oh, that's my home, mm yeh,
that's my home
and I like it that way.
I said, Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
WHEREVER I LAY MY HAT (THAT'S MY HOME)はパパワズと歌詞に共通部とはいっても、えらいポップやねー。
Papa was a rolling stone ‥。
I'll Always Love My Mama"でしょうか?
Three Dog Nightの"Mama Told Me Not To Come"とかは
Pickett
Want some whiskey in your water
Sugar in your tea
What's all these crazy questions they askin' me
This is the craziest party there could ever be
Don't turn on the lights, 'cause I don't want to see
Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come
That ain't the way to have fun, no
Open up the window
Let some air into this room
I think I'm almost chokin'
From the smell of stale perfume
And that cigarette you're smoking
'Bout scared me half to death
Open up the window, sucker
Let me catch my breath
[Refrain]
Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come
She said, that ain't the way to have fun, son
That ain't the way to have fun, son
The radio is blastin'
Someone's knocking at the door
I'm lookin' at my girlfriend
She's passed out on the floor
I seen so many things
I ain't never seen before
Don't know what it is
I don't wanna see no more
[Refrain]
Mama told me, mama told me, mama told me
Told me, told me
That ain't no way to have fun, whoah, yeah yeah
Mama told me not to come
Mama, mama, mama told me
That ain't no way to have fun
That ain't the way to have fun, no
That ain't the way to have fun, son
That ain't the way to have fun, no
That ain't the way to have fun, son
