There is a small pond in the backyard. Water lilies bloom beautifully. Gold fish and frogs are living in there. I am not sure if it might be a reason but many fireflies fly in the backyard from mid June till the end of July. They fly for about 20 min from half an hour after the sun set. It is fun for us to see them every evening. I could not take a photo and photos here are borrowed from a website.
It was difficult to maintain the large house on a large lot for seniors and we have moved to a smaller house. It is called as downsizing here. We had a lot of flowers in the garden in the previous house but no flower in the new place. Once we settle down inside of the house I have to work in the garden.

A Japanese friend of mine told me that he set his own at his place. When I retired several years later, I did my own but cost less than half. I can connect a Canadian DVD player, a Japanese DVD player, a PC and a game machine and it is much more complicated compared to his one. I have retired for over ten years and I have a lot of time especially in winter.

Thanks for your comment. We do not have a mandatory retirement rule like in Japan. Therefore I could have kept working then, but my work and my direct boss were not good for me. I had been happy for about 3 to 4 years after my retirement as I had 365 day holiday every year. Then I was bored but I could not find a good job for a similar work and similar pay. Therefore I changed the route and tried to enjoy my retirement life.

Therefore I changed the route and tried to enjoy my retirement life.
It’s been almost one year since I traveled to Europe. We had not known anything about Covid-19 at the time and I had had another travel plan. I wish we would be allowed to travel abroad sooner. I receive many mails from tour companies and airline companies with cancellation free privileges. However I do like to book any tours yet. I am wondering to go Morocco, Peru, Costa Rica, Panama, and Japan for now. It is just a dream.
We had the annual end of years cleaning our homes screens doors and windows from this morning. My husband used high pressure washing machine, my son and I wiped the windows and return the washed screen doors together. We used to do the end of years cleaning, that’s why we could finish to do for three hours.
This was our home’s event. And I cleaned the ventilation fan, too.
I felt refreshed very well.
However we were tired.

Christmas is coming closer and kids are supposed to be very happy. However, we are not allowed to get together to celebrate Christmas this year. We are not allowed to get together even with families if they are not living together. We cannot expect a turkey dinner and kids cannot expect Christmas presents. Poor kids!
It is the coldest season of the year here in the northern country. It was -10 ℃ even in the daytime today. We must stay home anyway unless we have essential business. However birds flock together and rabbits run in the backyard to look for foods. I guess it is not easy for them to find any food around here.
It is cold outside in the northern country. It was -17℃ at night the other day. There are no flowers in the garden at all. We buy some flowers in pots and keep them in a room. The gas furnace is working 24 hours a day in the basement to keep warm inside of the house. Most flowers in pots are okay here.
Did you find any fun to do at home? I feel spring breeze now but it is too early to do gardening yet but we still have to stay at home here. My wife enjoys cross stitching. I try to build a model tall ship. I liked building model planes, ships, trains, etc. I made this big one about 20 years ago. I had made a similar one over 40 years ago and my daughter (3 or 4 years old then) wanted to touch it. I kept the ship on the top of a tall bookshelf. She threw a beach ball toward the ship. When she hit it and the ship crashed down, she was glad and asked me to put it back again. I had to repair it before I put it again. I do not remember how many times I repaired but it eventually went into a garbage bag as it was no repairable.
We stayed home most of days except 30min of grocery shopping. So I tried to build a model tall ship. I found my eye sights getting weaker and it was not easy for me to work on small pieces but I have done somehow. I got stiff shoulders and it was hard to breath through the nose. What next!
The number of infected people of Covid-19 and its variants is increased rapidly and my dream of travels is getting far away. However more and more people get a vaccine shot at the same time. About 23% of residents here have got a vaccine shot at least once. I received a shot over 2 weeks ago and it should be effective by now. I hope this vaccine should work and travel out of country eventually.
