Recently I went to a primary school and a high school for students' physical checkup. Aimost all students were healthy. We have to notice allergy (skin lesion and bronchial asthma), and congenital heart diseases.
Patients of allergy become healthy when they grow, but some patients have same allergic condition, especially bronchial asthma. In addition we have to notice obesity of students.
It is said that children often eat high calorie foods, and they are absorbed in games. Maybe obesity is a kind of heredity, but observation is necessary for preventing diseases of adults.
Anyway they are obedient. In this town people are strict, and so children are also obedient. Teachers should work very hard, and education is difficult. Discipline is the role of parents, not teachers. Some parents say that teachers should do both education and discipline in a school, but their opinion are absurd.
I think there is a genetic aspect to obesity, but in most cases it's diet and lack of exercise. It's the "video game generation" and with the availability of a more Western diet in Japan I think the Japanese health authorities are going to see a large rise in things like heart disease and diabetes in the next 20 or 30 years.
The "video game generation" has been around for a long time, it's nothing new. Sure gaming has grown in numbers, but real gamers know when to quit. I grew up playing Nintendo a lot, but my parents weren't feeding me junk. They gave me time limits, and made sure I played outside as well.
I guess when I say that, I'm referring to a trend where young people spend many hours every day gaming. In some cases gamers spend as long as 8 hours playing in one sitting. I have a Wii and a DSi.....I've had pretty much all the Nintendo consoles for the past 15 years. I'm not against gaming, I enjoy it, but I think there is a dangerous trend in the amount of time people spend at these devices.
Only 15 years? You young whoopersnapper, I've been playing since the days of the Game & Watch hand helds Maybe it just feels different today because now we get to hear all the little kids whining and trying their best to troll on Xbox Live and PSN.
Well....actually....I did have a few of the old game & watches. I just didn't really consider them gaming so much as passing time. I wish I still had those....some serious fond memories there.
I agree to the opinion which parents are responsible for their children’s education.
I guess that playing game for a long time will largely cause physical inactivity which shall finally lead to obesity.
There are some people who think that there is a genetic aspect in obesity.
Please let me not criticize it but I am actually wondering if obesity have an important basis in genetics.
As they eat between meals, e.g. chocolate, crisps and junk food, therefore they are getting fat.
It is often said that such food intake too much make teenager be obesity. Now in Japan you can get a quick bite to eat with much easier and cheaper than the past time.
Although it may be actually parental responsibility to keep informed about what their children are eating out everyday, I would like to say that parents had better teach their children how to choice food as dietary education since they are kids.
