If you aren't interested in Japanese culture, I recommend you to pass over this topic.

I always had busy weekends on October. PE festivals, the 31-legged race, and the harvest festival in my city...
I've posted about those topics on my English blog and my mixi diary before. http://plow7010.blogspot.com/ But I'd like you to know about them, especially "The harvest festival".
I live in Sensyuu area in Osaka prefecture. (Sensyuu is close to Kansai international airport.) There were many harvest festivals there on October. Of course in my city, too.
The festival was really exicting and amusing ! And my friend, who is from Australia and lives near my city, came to my house to see it. He was so excited and surprised at seeing it. He often said "Crazy guys" and "Funny ! " I guess he had a good time. :D
Even I'm a Japanese, I enjoyed your story. Danjiri is such a polular harvest festival, but I've never seen it. So I was so curious about your story and pictures you attached.
I teach Japanese to an Australian girl and she's going to participate Wadaiko(和太鼓) performance this week. She's so happy to wear happi and practice so hard. I can't wait to see her performance.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Danjiri used to be so dangerous festival. Now...it has become much safer
recently in my impression. Because it became famous too much.
But it's still a exicitng festival, I think.
I know the Wadaiko festival but I've never seen it yet.
It sounds great that she's going to participate in it with a happi !
Have a good time. BCNU
