Just wondering how many in here has any interest in these music genres in here. Which bands/artists do you lilke? I have a lot of favourites like: Ayabie, Miyavi, Gackt, Vidoll, the Gazette and many others.
VK is Short for Visual Kei (ヴィジュアル系, vijuaru kei). They dress up with stiking make-up, costumes and often look very feminine. Examples of VK bands are: Vidoll, Malice Mizer, Alice Nine, The Gazette and many, many more.
An extented list can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_visual_kei_artists#0.E2.80.939
Well, I do ^^ Although I prefer JROCK to V系. My favorite band is L'Arc-en-Ciel, but I also love Asian Kung-fu Generation, Gackt, Glay, YUI and especially MUCC. As for V系, I haven't listened to it a lot yet, but I really like An Cafe (too bad Bou left the band) and The Gazette
I like both Vk and jrock.
But personally, even though I had my times enjoying a bands music because of their looks,
now about most of the bands that I listen, I don't even know how they look.
For an example my latest favourites, Despairs Ray, Girugamesh and rentrer en soi. I listen to them but dont even know their names XDDDD
MUCC are awesomeness! And DEG is sooo good too Anyone know the band Homura(焔)? I love the singers voice so much, just a pity I can't find anything anywhere on the net with them.
I don't really like VK, but I do like J-rock. 亜矢, BUMP OF CHICKEN, Tommy heavenly6, Des-ROW, GO!GO!7188, FLOW, Anna Tsuchiya (her earlier stuff was more rock-based so I like those the best) and 上木彩矢. Oh, and 雅-miyavi-'s more recent stuff since he finally started experimenting with his sounds better.
I'm a fan of some rock/avant/noise/electro/punk...if that makes any sense. You can see some of my tastes on my profile.
I can handle some more pop stuff, but it has to have a certain ingredient (something I feel when I hear it).
*****Any 日本人 want to be a singer*****
I'm in the process of recording some new tracks now, and I may need some help later. I'm looking for some some people from Japan (or here in the US) to help me with vocals on my stuff. I also would just love to play with anyone interested.
A good example of what I'm doing for one song, is actually have a girl-friend of mine call my cellphone, and leave a message as the vocal part. Then I can record it and lay the music around it.
Not your typical stuff, but fun and different.
I don't have a band anymore since they moved back to Japan, but I can still find a way
I like both jrock and vk, some of my favorite bands are the gazette, ganeisha, phantasmagoria, D, SKULL, Wizard, An Cafe, the Studs, Vidoll, 12012, Viored and lolita23q to name a few.
I believe GLAY started out as a VK group but then turned themselves into more of a J-pop/J-rock band as they gained popularity. I don't know their recent songs, but I used to listen to some of their older albums. I also like Boowy. Those two groups and Southern All Stars are pretty much the only Japanese bands that I am interested in.
I think her music (along with 99% of mainstream Japanese pop) is horrible, but one of my favorite Japanese drummers plays in her band. Go figure.
On her (Japanese) wikipedia page, there's a list of musicians she's worked with which is actually pretty impressive (AxSxE of Natsumen, Mito from Clammbon, Tokie, former members of Number Gir, Shinya Okuno from Soul Flower Union etc.). Though it's hard not to be cynical and see it as just an attempt by the record company to give her indie cred.
As for VK, uh, whatever floats everyone's boat I guess.
I listen to a lot of VK and j-rock. I like Dir en Grey, D'espairs Ray, Girugamesh, UnsraW, Glay, 12012, MUCC, Gackt, Miyavi, L'arc-en-ciel. I like a lot more...so many to name.
No Jp rock band rocks harder than B'z does. They have been nominated to The Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame recently. VERY FIRST JAPANESE GROUP TO HAVE GOT THE AWARD EVER. How awsome is that!
We as Japanese should take pround in that. They do deserve it in the light of impressive two decade work of rocking. I'm so happy being a fan of B'z as they will soon be recognised to all over the world.
Besidez B'z I massively like Elephant kashimashi, GLAY, and The Yellow monkey and The Ulfuls to name a few...
They are also great rock bands with a little bit of nice exposures to the other side of the world.
I gotta try listen to Dir en grey!! You know they did the opening act for Korn. Too cool. Keep it going.
DEG (short for Dir en Grey) will also do the opening act for Linkin Park in SAITAMA SUPER ARENA in November. It would be so~~ awsome being there Well, I just hope they will come to Denmark sometime soon again so that I can go see them
I love J-rock!!! I have seen Bleach03 four times and I want to see Kokeshi Doll. I have one of their songs on my myspace page. MUCC is great. GOGO7188 and Shina Ringo are both good to listen to. I tend to listen to the heavy stuff more often.
Here are some pics of Bleach03. Kanna is so sexy!!!!
