The Boot Camp Click is currently in New York working on their forthcoming album, The Last Stand, scheduled for a summer release.

The Brooklyn-based crew - comprised of rap artists Buckshot, Smif-N-Wessun, Heltah Skeltah, and OGC - are said to be working with an array of legendary beat-makers including Pete Rock, Large Professor, Da Beatminerz, and 9th Wonder. The Last Stand is set to hit stores on July 18, and the BCC are also planning a national tour to promote the album.

The Boot Camp collective last united on wax on the 2002 album, The Chosen Few. In the time since, they have dropped notable solo and group efforts including Reloaded (Smif-N-Wessun) and Chemisthtry (Buckshot & 9th Wonder).

Meanwhile Sean Price (formerly Ruck) is also prepping his second solo album, Jesus Price: Super Star, set to drop in September.

バックショット(Buckshot Shorty of Black Moon)の"Chemistry"に続く新作でもメインプロデューサーを務めることになったナインス・ワンダー(9th Wonder of Little Brother)が、ブルックリン出身の若手ラッパー、MCスカイズー(MC Skyzoo)とタッグを組み、"Cloud 9: The 3 Day High"をリリースすることになった。

来月12日に発売されるそのアルバム、タイトルの"Cloud"はスカイズーの『スカイ』から、9はナインス・ワンダーの『9th』、そして"3 Day High"は3日間で曲をレコーディングしたことに因んでいるという。全12曲から成り、ナインス・ワンダーらしいソウルフルなサンプル使いで既に支持を集めている"Way To Go"や、ギターリフとハンドクラップが印象的な"I'm On It"などが収録されるとのこと。(m)

Los Angeles-based trio Move.Meant offers a similar "thinking-man" meets "man-on-the-street" take on the illegal drug trade on "Say When" from their recently released The Scope Of Things LP. Linking poverty, corporate economics, outsourcing, the mis-management of the nation's educational system, the failure of inner-city-schools and even the images portrayed by Rap stars, emcee Champ establishes a simple cause-and-effect relationship between those large-scale socio-economic influences and the personal decisions youngsters make to participate in the so-called "hustler" lifexxx. Again, it's not that the song is a sociology essay or political manifesto set to music that makes it dope to me, but the fact that it's straight-talk from the perspective of a regular guy who's not a preacher or a thug. So when Champ spits about how for some kids "chemistry xxx is making a pot warm" it resonates, both for it's reflection of Crack-Rap clichés (like Malice's memorable couplet about his cookware's Hebrew heritage) and it's plain-spoken, common-sense factuality.
