Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe plans to
visit the United States in late April for talks
with President George W Bush.
The two-day visit starting April 26 will be
Mr Abe's first to the United States since
assuming office as prime minister in September.
Officials from the two countries are arranging
a meeting between Prime Minister Abe and
President Bush at the presidential retreat
at Camp David, north of Washington.
They are likely to reaffirm Japan-US ties,
as well as discussing North Korea's nuclear
program and abductions.
They are also due to discuss Iraq reconstruction.
After going to the United States,
Mr Abe plans to visit the Middle East
to discuss the situation in Iraq and
the Middle East peace process.
