Tangerine Dream celebrate their 40th year (!) in the music business with a world tour and new studio album. The tour is to kick off on September 21 as part of Popkomm in Berlin, one of the world's premier music business events. Popkomm is currently heading into its 18th incarnation. As a timely coincidence, it is Berlin where founder Edgar Froese originally formed Tangerine Dream, exactly 40 years ago.
In related news, “2101” is the working title for the next studio album – described as being “a musical science fiction story in which a time traveler fails to return to earth”. The album is due for completion this August, and will be released to coincide with the world tour.
We will provide more information on dates and locations for the world tour, along with the exact album release date, as we get them.
